This weeks’ resource is an unusual one – It’s called the Hemingway Editor. For those who don’t know, Ernest Hemingway

As with many of the websites I show you here, I’ll use their own words to tell you what it is about:

What’s the Hemingway Editor All About?

Hemingway makes your writing bold and clear. It’s like a spellchecker, but for style. It makes sure that your reader will focus on your message, not your prose.

Too often, our words are like our thoughts — innumerable and disorganized. Almost any bit of writing could use some cutting. Less is more, etc.

So, the Hemingway Editor will highlight (in yellow and red) where your writing is too dense. Try removing needless words or splitting the sentence into two. Your readers will thank you.

The website version is free to use, but there is a downloadable app version for a modest price ($20 at time of posting this for both PC and Mac). If you find yourself using the editor a lot, it’s worth giving it a purchase to help support the developers and keep the site free to use and free of adverts. The full app version has extra features, such as text formatting (like bold), publishing for the web and others.

I would recommend giving the free web-app a go first. If it suits your needs, then consider purchasing the full version.
