Resource – Hemingway Editor

This weeks’ resource is an unusual one – It’s called the Hemingway Editor. For those who don’t know, Ernest Hemingway

As with many of the websites I show you here, I’ll use their own words to tell you what it is about:

What’s the Hemingway Editor All About?

Hemingway makes your writing bold and clear. It’s like a spellchecker, but for style. It makes sure that your reader will focus on your message, not your prose.

Too often, our words are like our thoughts — innumerable and disorganized. Almost any bit of writing could use some cutting. Less is more, etc.

So, the Hemingway Editor will highlight (in yellow and red) where your writing is too dense. Try removing needless words or splitting the sentence into two. Your readers will thank you.

The website version is free to use, but there...

[Resource] – Fast Character Maker

Some people love spending ages creating a character. But often, especially as a GM, you need to come up with a character really quicky – Your players have gone off the beaten track and want to know more about that mysterious person who ultimately has no real impact on your planned plot.

Fast Character Maker can help with this.

to quote from the site – ”

Need a few quick pre-gens for a game convention or organized play group at your local game store?

Your cousin from out of town wants to sit in and join this week’s game?

The party insists on hiring that NPC to join them for the adventure?

That failed stealth check got half the party killed and now you’re all playing back-up reinforcements?

You don’t have time to min/max your way through a character build but want to try something new?

Fast...

Resource – RPG Tinker

This week’s rpg related resource is a website for helping you make characters in 5e, RPG Tinker. It is very easy to use, with drop-down menus and stat options. Simply select what you want and hit the “build that NPC” button. There are pre-set options in the bestiary, for various types of npcs or humanoid creatures you may encounter, such as city guard, or goblins.  To quote the site – ”

Hello folks! RPGTinker is a tool for building NPCs for D&D 5e. Just choose a template, abilities scores, and hit dice, and your NPC is ready to use in battle! You can even print or pdf it!

In 5E, monsters -and especially NPCs- follow different rules to players. They are usually a “damage sponge”, having a lot of hit points and low damage. I haven’t found any other generator for NPCs, just for players...
