Star and Planet Name Maker & the RPG Round Up

Star and Planet Name Maker

It has been said by some that the universe contains a billion galaxies. Each galaxy is meant to house a billion stars. That is close to a billion, billion stars, many of them with planets of some kind.

Most celestial catalogs use a hard to remember designation system like PX9-32 etc. A name is easier to remember and this will help you to create some names for your planets and stars.

Contents:

  • 2 x d1000 tables a prefix and suffix, divided up into 20 handy d100 sub-tables for the Star/Planet name
  • 1 x d100 designators to tell you what position in the system the planet belongs, such as Alpha, IV, Six and a few more
  • 1 x d100 table of pre-made examples, ready for you to use, such as…
    • Astrozevo Prime
    • Fephedro VIII
    • Solarformica IX

100,000,000 possible combinations can be generated, some more suitable to your needs than others – The ones that seem weird and odd to us would be perfect for the translation from an alien language or miscommunications.

Star System and Planet Maker and the RPG Round Up

Star System and Planet Maker

“Space is big. You just won’t believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it’s a long way down the road to the chemist’s, but that’s just peanuts to space…”Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
You are out there, being busy and exploring the big an empty void known as space and you encounter a star. What type of star is it? How many planets, if there are any, are in orbit? What about the planets themselves? All these questions and more can be answered with this publication.

Inside you’ll find a set of tables for mapping out your star-system, covering details such as…

  • The nature of the star(s) in the system
  • Size
  • Atmosphere Type
  • Atmospheric Pressure
  • Axil Tilt
  • Day/Rotation
  • Density/Gravity
  • Hydrosphere
  • Magnetic Field
  • Population/Lifeforms
  • Primary Terrain
  • Orbiting Bodies
  • Position/System Order
  • System Size
  • Temperature
  • Type of planet, rocky or gas
  • Year/Orbit Duration

…PLUS…

A handy glossary of terms used in this publication (plus a few extra)

Disclaimer
Due to how complex the nature of star systems and planets can be in real life, this publication is not claiming in any way to be scientifically 100% accurate…at all. This is a deliberate design choice, to make it easier to use and not bogged down with too much detail. At the end of the day, this publication is for fun and idea prompting and assistance. If you need 100% accuracy, there are plenty of free books, websites and resources out there worthy of your time and attention.
Also, this PDF is an updated and combined version of parts of the Multi-Verse Kit Part 3 and 4, from Ennead Games. Some parts have been removed, such as the sentient life/cultures chapter and others changed, but the majority of the content has been used. If you have those titles, you have most of this already.

Star System Maker Contents

With several new Sci-Fi rpgs out, It makes sense for me to update one of Ennead Games older generators related to the genre. In fact this one will be a combination of several of the multiverse kits parts into one. But it does raise an important question: What do you find in a star system? So here, in no particular order are some of the things you may find when exploring a star system.

The generator will have a quick, easy to use section for when you are passing through a system and don’t need a detailed report, then there will be a more detailed section, which will explore the system in more details and give you more information. Obviously, the detailed section will take longer to use, but you don’t have to use everything in it...
