Its tme for the Wednesday Weekly Update!

PDFs

Aling with the GM’s sale on DrivethuRPG, the latest PDF, Helpful List Arbitrary Collection Expanded Volume 3, came out. Neither was major selling amounts, but, was a tad more than I expected, which was very nice to see.

Looking like the next PDF should be the next in the Dugeon Feature series and be about Portals – Gateways to otherplaces in the world. Not doors. Well, they could be doors but you know what I mean.

World Anvil

Last week was more in the world building/10 questions about…. series (which, the more I think about it, will be the official title going forwards).  The subject matter this time was about Science and Technology

  • ESO. Things have gone great with the teives guild DLC. Enjoyed way more than I thought I would, even though now it’s coming to a close. Still got some Achivements and so on to do, but think am almost done. Next up will be the Dark Brotherhood/Assassin’s DLC. Should be interesting.
  • Farscape WatchParty – One episode in particular had a “Lets see how much weird s**t we can put into this one!”. It was fun but 100% had odd stuff in it. But was a good laugh and some quality entertainment,. and hearing Claudia Black do a “Southern” accent was most amusing.

The Foundry Project

Finally nailed down an issue that had been bugging me for the last few weeks with regards to tokens and their movement. They were going very slow, like taking up to 10 seconds to move at the worst of times. Thanks to some help from a friend who kindly said yes to my plea of “Can i borrow you for a few mins i need to test this..”. Turns out I had too much loaded , like maps and so on, which i was using for testing and learning things and then not removing them afterwards. But, using their compemdium system, and another mod, I can now dispence with keeping many maps and assets “loaded” and view them in the compendiums (which is like the archives). This has speed things up a lot.

The next big step, for me at least, is with testing things propery in a live game, which, fingers crossed, be in about three weeks.

Once that’s done, THEN I can finally start converting my PDFs into foundry formated tables and so on. Taking a longer time then I thought it would, but, as someone rightly pointed out to me, I need to know how the system works both from a designer pov and from a user pov before I start converting things, making macros and so on.  Like trying to design a new car when you never been in one before. Sure in theroy you COULD do it but….

Other Stuff

Testing out a new way of adding the Itchi.io sale widgets to the PDF page. If this works, and so far the signs are it does (once i get the formatting right), updating the page *should* be done semi-automatically. This will, in theroy, make things easier to update, but because there will be quite a few things, it will only update once a day/24 hour period, so newer items will not show up right away. It’s more reliable, less fiddly way of doing things, but the trade off is that it’s slower. I could speed things up but that might causes issue and the server people/site might have issues with things.
