This week’s resource is the free (for non-commercial use) website known as Inkarnate.
Map Making Resource
Inkarnate is a free o use website for making fantasy themed maps. These maps, as with any other software, are only as good as the designer, but with this, you can make something approaching the maps you see in printed books and supplements with relative ease.
With Inkarnnet you can…
- Sculpt and paint continent, land masses and islands
- Uses the brush tools for “painting” landscapes
- Add settlements, towers, castles etc with ease
- Place forests, mountains on your map
- Annotate with text and notes
As with many of the sites llike this, the best way to see what it can do is to try it for yourself. It’s free for those who don’t wish to publish their work commercially, but if you do want to use your map in something you have made to sell, there is a reasonably priced licence fee of $25 a year (price correct at time of posting)
Have a resource for gamers and storytellers you’d like to see highlighted? Use the contact page or social media platforms to let me know about it. Yes than can include your own site, but I reserve the right to not highlight/show off a resource if I think it is spam or irrelevant.
