The Olympics has always been a bastion of equality and natural talent. Although there has been several drug scandals, the overall spirit of fair play and equality was never diminished. After the last scandal involving drugs and replacement limbs, the idea was floated for the Ultra-Olympics – One where the basic rules for each event was the same apart from one, fairly important one – That enhancements were not only allowed, but encouraged. From drugs, to genetic manipulation, to cybernetics and anything else, the only stipulations beings that the athlete must be willing and not under any duress and the enhancements were declared beforehand.
The first UO was a smash hit in its first run, with both athletes and the public alike. Although there was a few deaths, the spectacle of seeing records not only broken but smashed. Countrys with superior levels of development in one area would show off their abilities. Private corporations could show off their new technology and their stock would skyrocket. Within 8 years, the UO had become just as popular as the original and worth 3x in terms of ad revenue. 4 years later it had almost double the value. The number of deaths had reduced to zero. The athletes were world-famous, and by association so was their sponsors.
