Kirlian photography
According to sources, “Kirlian photography is a collection of photographic techniques used to capture the phenomenon of electrical coronal discharges.” In other words, it is a technique for creating contact print photographs using high voltage. Photographic film was placed on top of a conducting plate, and another conductor was attached to a hand, a leaf or other plant material. The conductors were energized by a high-frequency high-voltage power source, producing photographic images typically showing a silhouette of the object surrounded by an aura of light.
These pictures can be breathtaking beautiful, with electrical blues surrounding the subject of the picture on a stark black background.
Over the years, those in the Parapsychology research areas of research have been using the KP to further their studies, with most scientists dismissing the pictures as a mildly interesting subject.
Hooks & Rumours
- A highly public display of KP has produced a picture that some is saying that the “aura” photographed is proof positive of the true aura and demands are growing from a part of the population to make the exhibit free for all to see.
- A few scientists have begun experimenting with KP to see if they are able to detect anything that contemporary science has failed to notice. The rest of the community is mocking them and some have begun outright attacks.
- Claims are being made by a particular wealthy family that the technique used was in fact invented by them and not by Kirlian
- A celebrity known for taking pictures of themselves using the Kirlian method, has come under scrutiny when one of the pictures they are displaying, of their own face/head, has a radically different discharge aura compared to one taken 6 months ago. Amongst her fans there is a growing idea that this person is a fake.
