Weapons name

Burn

A small burn from a fire is visible on the weapon. Most the time, as long as the items aren’t made of wood or other flammable material, this is superficial.

Clean as the day it was made

Even if the weapon is hundreds of years old it’s very clean. Either it has some magical properties or someone’s been looking after it.

Crack

This damage can be quite severe. If hit in the wrong place the item can get weaker or even break.

Creators mark

Often small or subtle, many weapon creators’ leave evidence of their work on an item. This can be their symbol to a particular style.

Evidence of repair

This weapon has obviously been repaired.

Groove/Blood Groove

A channel has been deliberately made in the item. This may allow blood to flow or arrows (or even other items) to sit etc.

Names

Sometimes, the weapon has marking on it to indicate not only the name of the weapon but who it belongs to.

Nick

A small part of the weapon has been chipped off. Although this has no performance issues, it doesn’t look nice

No visible markings under normal light/sight

There may be a message, the makers name, the weapon names or anything else of a similar nature, but to see it, you must use non-standard light or vision.

Number of kills

Some owners like to keep track of the kills they have made with the weapon using a tally/gate system.

Runes/Magical writing

Runes & other arcane writings adorn this weapon. They may or may not have an effect.

Rust/Mould/etc.

Rust/Mould represents an item in advanced decay, through age or other means

Scratch

Normally found of weapons that are used a lot, scratch or surface damage. Does not impede the weapons use, but will lower the value and looks.

Serration

Deliberately made cuts into the item, serration can be intimidating if spotted and may also provide extra damage

Stains

Various stains are left on the item, from acid, to blood or other materials.
