Last time, I talked about the calendar and made mention of the four moons and their curious nature and of the fifth feature that not many people in the world have seen..the ring system.
It’s said to be a omen when you can see all four moons in the nights sky. Ive heard tales that some worlds only have one, or even none. How empty their sky at night must be (Author unknown)
Easthalen is a world with four known moons. Other numerous smaller and irregular objects can be discovered. Old tales from Pre-Barrier times match up, mostly, with whats is currently observed in orbit.
Due to the fact they are beyond the barrier, they can only be seen and not traveled to, even with the most potent of spells, due to the globe like Great Barrier
The Moons
Officially, there are four objects classed as a “moon” in orbit of the world on which Easthalen sits.
- Albias – Orbit – 10 days, innermost fast and smallest of the four, has a white tint to it
- Berona – Orbit – 20 days, the second furthest, is the next in order. Has a greyish tint to it
- Chamala – Orbit – 40 days, third in the progression , has a reddish tint to its soil
- Doctrana – 80 days – largest and slowest of the four. Furthest away. Has a metallic blueish silver look to it.
Each of the moons has legands attached to it, with various groups of lycans and other who have attachment to the moons prefering one over the other. There is , as mentioned, the curious nature of the moons. Those who grew up in Easthalen don’t pay this any attention, generally, but sometimes a curious scholar will do some digging and find out things that , to some, is a mere curisoty, and to others, alarming.
- There was no mention in ANY historical records , carving, or other archaeological records of any orbiting body before approxmatly 10,000 years ago, even though there are records and remains of cultures from that time and beyond
- The earlist mention is of FIVE moons
- The orbits are almost perfect, down to a few seconds and have not varied since records began – There is a common joke about time pieces and calendars can be set
- The moons names start with A, B, C and D. Some belive that fith moon (see below) name would have started with E
- Tidal forces are present, yet don’t seem to majorly effect the world that much
- Travel to the various moons, as they lie beyond the Great Barrier is belived to be impossible by methods short of teleportation or planear travel, yet every known attempt to do so has ended in a messy wa
The Ring
aka The “fith” moon.
This has led to many beliving that the ring doesnt exist. For those that know or have seen it, more questions are asked:
- What happend to the fith moon to cause it break up?
- Why is it on a different angle/plane to the others?
- Where is there no record of it?
Some belive that the transformation/destruction of the unnamed fith moon into a ring is somehow related to the rise of Halen, but many point out that the ring was formed thousands of years before he was even born, to which a common counter argument is that considering a temporaly displaces meteor was what led (indirectly) to Halens birth in the first place, temporal shenanigans and tomfoolery is not out the question. It’s normally around this time that fights break out among certain types of scholars..
Next time, I’ll cover the Great Barrier, the energy barrier surrounding the world and last line of defence in case the Sleeping God should awaken and break free!
